SOLAS - International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea. VGM - Verified Gross Mass. Total Weight of Cargo, Loading Aids, Dunnage and Tare of Container became effective July1st, 2016

Major incidents and accidents are result from overweight containers. This has prompted the international shipping community to take an action in order to prevent incorrect weight declarations. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) in collaboration with industry representatives has, therefore, adopted specific rules. Those rules are part of the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention.

The so-called “VGM” requirements will impact the communication, infrastructure and processes of all participants in the supply chain. The time for having the “VGM” methodologies and requirements implemented is short. Kuehne + Nagel is closely cooperating with its partner carriers and e-commerce hubs. This allows us to have efficient and reliable global communication standards and processes in place.

KN VGM Portal – Online tool for reliable transfer of the required VGM data

To help customers comply with the new requirements, Kuehne + Nagel has created KN VGM portal. It is online tool for reliable transfer of the required VGM data. KN VGM portal is accessible with mobile devices.  Use scanning  QR code or alternatively  a link on your booking reference.

KN VGM portal makes it easy and less expensive for you to manage and submit the VGM required information. It also make easier  record keeping and shipment identification.
